Getting to Ukraine

Q: I’m form UK. Do I need a visa to Ukraine?
A: No. All EU and US citizens may travel to Ukraine without a visa. For more information on other countries please contact your national embassy website.

Q: Where can I find out about domestic flights in Ukraine and book a plane ticket?
A: There are a number of travel websites such as ebookers.com and expedia.com that cover flights of all airlines travelling to Ukraine and Donetsk or alternatively you can visit the sites of the individual air companies themselves.

The are several flight options to Donetsk (the airport code for Donetsk is DOK)
The are some many carriers that fly directly into Donetsk from hub cities outside of Ukraine, these include:
Lufthansa from Munich
Austrian Airlines from Vienna
Turkish Airlines from Istanbul
Lot from Warsaw
Aeroflot from Moscow

Or you can fly to Donetsk from Kiev on several national carriers such as Ukraine International, Aerosvit, Donbassaero and DniproAvia, having flown into Kiev on the many flight options available from the UK or France including British Airways, Air France, British Midland, Ukraine International and Aerosvit.

The shortest flight time with two connecting flights is just under 6 hours, whilst others may require an overnight stop.

Q: Where is Ukraine and Donetsk located?
A: Ukraine is located at the far east of Europe, adjoining Poland, Hungary, Romania, Belarus and Russia. Donetsk is to the far east of Ukraine, near the northeast corner of the Black sea.

Q: Is it possible to travel by car or Train?
A: It is possible if you have the time. It is over 2000 miles from London to Donetsk by road and would take around 36 hours non-stop by car. It is important to understand that there are not many dual carriageways (motorways) in the Ukraine, so progress can be slow. Travelling by train would take no less than 3 days from London or Paris and would require several changes of train.

Q: Do I need any vaccinations when traveling to Ukraine?
A: No, it’s not necessary.

Q: What is the best place to stay in Donetsk?
A: There are several hotels of varying accommodation levels from 1 to 5 star. For the Euros, there will also be university dorm rooms and campsites made available in Donetsk and Donetsk Region. Q: How much does it cost to get from the Donetsk airport to the city center by taxi?
A: It cost 50 – 80 Hryvnia’s (5-8 Euro) depends on taxi service provider.

Q: Where I can get Internet access?
A: There are many free Wi-Fi hotspots in the city, especially in cafes, hotels and restaurants.

Q: Are there any smoking areas on the Donbass Arena?
A: No. The Donbass Arena is 100% non-smoking stadium.

Q: Where is the fan zone and is it far form the stadium?
A: The fan zone is located in Sherbakova Park, 30 minutes walk to the stadium.
